There's a seperate flap for each side, that directs air from the heater core. One is not working. Not easy to get to. Hope you're still in warranty. If not, it could pay to buy an extended warranty that covers them. You might need to wait for a period of time, like 30 days, before submitting a claim.

Hi, I have a VW mk5 Golf 1.6 FSI 2004. The problem with it is My heaters dont get very hot AT ALL, it just blows luke warm air when on the highest setting. It does not have climate control. I have check a few things like, Coolant level (head gasket is fine) Thermostat (fine) The heater matrix pipes are very hot and so is the actual heater rad.
I have a 2006 gti and the aircon is not working. I had a chap out yesterday to re-gas the system but it was already full and he said that the refrigerant wasn't circulating, the pump is not engaging and the rad fans are not turning. I have read on the forum that the pressure switch can go and my question is this.

The large radiator fan runs even when the engine is cold, the Air Con is off, and the small fan never runs. I know theres a known problem with the MK4 Golf fans and a simple fix

The first sign that your air-con needs regassing is that the air being blown from the vents is not as cool as it used to be, or it doesn’t feel any different when the AC is switched off. If you can’t remember the last time the system was regassed, it’s probably worth doing. Alternatively, many specialists are happy to perform a free check.
We have a golf and jetta 56 plate jetta with econ button 57 plate golf with ac button we never press econ on the jetta and leave air con on these are both diesels and tbh it makes no difference to fuel economy at all in fact the jetta is better on fuel and returns 600 miles to tank were I get 520 in the golf lol

for reference, every gallon of diesel burned makes 22 pounds of CO2. an ounce of R134 is about the same as burning about 3.7 gallons of diesel. so a full load of 18 ounces is about the same impact as burning 66 gallons of ULSD. so venting the 18 ounces of R134a is about as impactful as driving the car 2500 miles or so.
